E-PENPAL WITH THE USA AND CARD-PENPAL WITH THE UK

During this course 2017-18, our students from all levels of ESO ( Compulsory Secondary Education ) are fulfilling a programme of penpal with two schools from the USA and the UK in two different ways.

Students from 2ºESO usually send handmade cards to King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls in Birmingham, England, the UK. This is the fifth year both school students send each one letters about their lives, routines and hobbies, mainly. As they send their cards, studeent are eager to get a reply from their penpals, but we know that traditional mail service is slower than an e-mail nowadays.

Therefore, or perhaps as Americans work in a different way, students from 1ºESO, 3ºESO and 4ºESO are working with Powerpoints in a similar project as with the UK students.

Our colleague, Josemi Puncel, moved to the States with a Visitor Teaching Programme and he is working at Trenor Gover School in Iowa, the USA. So, he started the activity with his students from 11 years old to 16 years old ande sent Powerpoints to our students and now they are sending back their replies.

This activity is very attractive and motivating as everyone can see themselves in real situations and speaking in English or Spanish about their lives, interests and routines with children of their same age all over the world
